The International Space Apps Challenge is the world biggest mass collaboration focused on space exploration that takes place over 48-hours in more than 180 cities around the world. The event embraces collaborative problem solving with a goal of producing relevant open-source solutions to address global needs applicable to both life on Earth and life in space.
NASA is leading this global collaboration along with a number of government collaborators and local organizing teams. This year the event will take place between 22 and 24 April 2016 while the challenges are from 6 areas: Aeronautics, Earth, Space Station, Journey to Mars, Solar System and Beyond, and Space Technology.

SILICON VALLEY LOCAL HOST
NewMan's Business Accelerator CEO Irena Chaushevska (www.newmansba.com) with HQs in Europe and Silicon Valley is local host for the Silicon Valley location of the International Space Apps Challenge (www.2016.spaceappschallenge.org). Irena was member of the global winning team of this challenge in 2015 (https://open.nasa.gov/innovation-space/nyspacetag/) and have also organized the event in the last 3 years on multiple locations.
PARTNERSHIP WITH SAP
NewMan's is joining the forces with SAP (www.sap.com) in order to provide amazing experience and opportunity for the hackathon participants at the Silicon Valley location.
This hackaton will take place at SAP SuccessFactors location at: 1 Tower Pl #1100, South San Francisco, CA 94080, USA. SAP is aligning its team of experts and mentors to help you during the hackaton. Also it will make available for participants its SAP HANA tools in order you to be able to create winning solutions.
On April 15, NewMan's and SAP are hosting a pre-event meet-up at HanaHous (456 University Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94301) from 5.30 to 8:30 pm.
SAP is also providing full 2 days catering and refreshments for all participants for April 23rd and 24th.

The exploration of space is, by necessity, a unified international effort both of the national space agencies, private corporations, startups... and diversity of experience and perspective inevitably produces a better product. The idea of the Challenge is enabling highly engaged collaboration and discovering what we can create when that happens.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
Anyone can participate in the International Space Apps Challenge. Please be 18 years or older.
It requires individuals with a broad range of skills. We are looking for engineers, technologists, scientists, designers, artists, educators, students, entrepreneurs – anyone who has a passion for changing the world and is willing to contribute.
You can come with a team or find a team at the pre-event meet-up or at the event itself. Teams should have between 3 and 6 members.
We invite engineers, coders, makers, artists and storytellers to connect over mission-related challenges. The growing Space Apps community represents the core of NASA's Open Innovation Initiative. Together, citizens like you have developed thousands of open-source solutions. Your big ideas are shaped using data visualizations, hardware, code, design and more!

Space Apps offers local and global awards. Solutions with intriguing and innovative insights and compelling storytelling rise to the top in the judging process. Global award winners receive an invitation to NASA to attend a rocket launch, as well as bragging rights among their peers and community.
